Have you heard of Cava?
Cava is a healthy Mediterranean fast-casual chain similar to Chipotle. I feel like It has gained a lot of popularity recently, thanks to their delicious and quick pick-up mezze bowls, warm pita wraps, falafel, and dips. You are served wonderful Mediterranean food in a ‘walk through a line and choose your base/protein/toppings’ style. Their bowls are filled with Mediterranean staples such as olives, pickled red onions, cucumbers, eggplant, and tabbouleh, with a number of add-on dips. But if there’s one item on their menu that stands out, it’s undoubtedly the Crazy Feta Dip. I always order a build your own bowl and I always add the Crazy Feta Dip! It is sooo good!!
(Me and my friend enjoying Cava in Atlanta, Georgia last weekend)
Crazy Feta Dip: A Burst of Flavor
The Crazy Feta Dip at Cava is a burst of flavor that combines creamy feta cheese with spicy jalapeños, onion, and a hint of olive oil. The result is a dip that’s both creamy and tangy, with a kick of heat that sneaks up on you and keeps you coming back for more. It’s so delicious that it’s become a must for me when building my bowl at Cava.
Bringing Cava Home:
After having the best mezze bowl lunch at Cava, it’s hard not to crave it regularly. Unfortunately, there is no Cava in Chattanooga and I don’t go to Atlanta very often. So I had to figure out how to make my own mezze bowls at home, including a recipe for the Crazy Feta Dip! I believe that Whole Foods has partnered with Cava and sells the dip at some of the stores, but I have not seen it at mine. But I did some research and found that it is pretty easy to recreate this amazing dip in your own kitchen with just a few simple ingredients!!
Here’s all that you need:
- Olive Oil
- Onion
- Jalenpeno
- Feta
This is my “cava bowl” at home. It has some brown rice, massaged kale, sliced cucumbers, diced tomatoes, pickled onions, hummus, tzatziki, grilled chicken, avocado and of course crazy feta dip! YUM!!

Description
This creamy spicy feta dip is one of Cava restaurants most popular dips and my personal favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup onions, diced
- 1/8 – 1/4 cup jalepenos, diced (depending on how spicy you wan it)
- 10 ounces of feta cheese
- ** Optional –salt and pepper, to taste (I don’t usually add any–this will depend on how salty the feta you use is)
Instructions
- Heat one tablespoon olive oil in a medium saute pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the diced onions and cook for 1 minute. Then, add the diced jalapeno and cook for another two minutes until the onions and jalapeno start to soften.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the jalapeño and onion, feta cheese, and olive oil. Pulse until the mixture is smooth and creamy (there should still be a few jalapeño and onion chunks left).
- Adjust seasonings and add a bit more olive oil if needed to get to desired consistency.
- Transfer the dip to a shallow plate or bowl and serve with carrots, celery, pita, pita chips, spread onto sandwiches, or add a spoonful to own homemade ‘Cava’ bowls.
- Store the dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
